Craniosacral
Craniosacral work is gentle, it is non-invasive and it is holding space.
A development of Cranial Osteopathy (introduced by William Sutherland,
DO), the work is done by gently placing hands and intention, applying
about five grams of pressure (the weight of a nickel), listening to the
subtle information and following its rhythm. The idea is that if we
slow down enough and listen, the body can reveal to the self what it
needs.
The craniosacral system is comprised of the brain and
spinal cord, and the membranes, structures and fluid that house and
protect them. This system filters all of the information going in and
out of the brain. Working with this system can help to relieve
restrictions in any of these structures.
You may use this work for both general relaxation
and for specific issues. Typically, it has been used to relieve TMD
(temporomandibular joint dysfunction), neck and back tension, joint
problems, asthma, fibromyalgia and other auto immune diseases,
migraines, headaches, vertigo, dyslexia, allergies, Autism, ADD/ADHD and
depression among many other conditions.
Craniosacral work can be a wonderful way to calm the
nervous system and assist in restoring the self to its natural balance.
